John Macleod Design

Good design speaks volumes. Your website is the world’s portal to you. Design quality is critical and reflects on your credibility.

A distinguished appearance is based on simplicity and elegance. Once established, your website should optimize color, composition, simplicity, typography, graphics and other design elements that reinforce your logo and messaging.

About

I started my career studying architecture at the Boston Architectural Center. I worked for John Sullivan, a registered architect, making architectural drawings. I received a BFA in industrial design from Mass. College of Art and since then have worked for companies such as HP and Xerox as an SQA engineer. Through this extensive experience in quality assurance, I have come to appreciate well-planned software applications—both how they’re conceived and how they’re implemented.

The Services

Web Design

You need to attract people to discover your website, but then you need to rivet their attention and get them to click to explore your offerings further.

I take my time and listen carefully to my clients and come up with conceptual designs which attempt to create options which integrate logo, narrative, colors, text, font and images into a meaningful new presence. We build page sequences which layer information in a way that attracts and educates.

Web Development

Web development takes the design and performs a basic “chop”, meaning to turn the design concept into code, which defines the structure, the look and feel of each page. Specifications for design elements such as the font and spatial layout are locked in. Markup (language which connects the elements) is installed.

Logo Design

The creative process begins by carefully listening to my client, performing research and experimenting with colors, shapes, text and other graphic elements. I always start from scratch. It takes a lot of work and concentration. I have a keen ear for the hearing the keys to my client’s intent. I will spend as much time as needed and provide as many drafts as necessary for the project to be exactly right.

Technical Illustration

I can make products especially attractive or easy to understand. I create pictorial renderings and diagrams of machines, products and architectural structures.

What the heck?

Since 2010, I have been providing graphic design services to small businesses and non-profit organizations in the Boston/Nashua area.
